Halotherapy

what is halotherapy?

Halotherapy (dry salt therapy) is a natural, drug-free, alternative treatment that may help to improve respiratory issues and skin conditions. The key process involves a halogenerator crushing and grinding 99.99% Pure Grade Sodium Chloride (salt) into very tiny microparticles. The halogenerator, or halotherapy machine, then disperses these dry aerosol microparticles of salt into the salt booth during a typical session. As an individual undergoes a salt therapy session, they inhale the microparticles. The particles penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli to address respiratory concerns. At the same time, the non-inhaled salt particles are absorbed by the body to combat skin conditions. Salt therapy can offer both respiratory (lungs and breathing) and cutaneous (skin-related) benefits. Additionally, the relaxing, calm environment offered by salt room therapy can help with stress reduction.

9 Key Halotherapy Benefits

  • Mucoactive, clearing up mucus from your airways
  • Antibacterial, helping prevent infections
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Immunity-boosting
  • Anti-allergic
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) relief
  • Improved skin
  • Tonsillitis relief
  • Cystic fibrosis relief

Halotherapy or Speleotherapy is a scientifically proven treatment for skin and respiratory conditions especially cystic fibrosis by aiding drying up infected abscess in the lungs. The naturally occurring anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and super absorbent properties of salt are what helps make it so effective. The salt acts like a sponge attracting foreign substances absorbing excess moisture in the respiratory system, clearing and opening airways and sinuses sometimes resulting in coughing, which is expected. Halotherapy has demonstrated to be beneficial in seasonal allergy relief, asthma, bronchitis, COPD, Colds and congestion to name a few. Salt’s natural properties also help to calm the skin and reduce inflammation thereby helping with acne, psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis.

How to use Halotherapy

1

Bring Clothes

Bring clothes you don’t mind getting salty because they for sure will be salted. Try to avoid wearing any perfumes or scents to allow for a clean session for you as well as the next person. If you haven’t completed your paperwork, make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

2

Check Your Skin

Check to see if you have any cuts or abrasions on exposed skin. In most cases, this won’t be an issue, but there is a possibility of the aerosolized salt causing minor discomfort. You can apply A&D ointment to create a barrier.

3

No Electronics

It is not recommended to bring any electronics or jewelry and other valuable items into the booth as the salt may cause damage but there is an audio hook up outside the booth connected to the inside speakers.

4

Check in

After you check-in, you’ll be taken to the salt booth room, where any of your questions will be answered and a brief intro to the booth will be provided. If you do need to exit the booth before the session has ended be sure to close the door so all the salty goodness stays inside of the booth.

5

Absorb the salt!

You may taste the salt slightly on your lips or tip of your tongue. Some may experience a slight cough, tickle in your throat or runny nose during or after your session. This is normal and should subside after a bit.

6

Shake it off

When the time is over you simply stand up and exit the booth, give yourself a little shake, check out at the front desk and leave feeling refreshed and revitalized!
