Float Therapy
What is floating?
Floating facilitates a highly relaxed state in a zero gravity-type environment, which places the body in a natural alignment state. Those with certain injuries or repeated habits, like looking downward at a phone screen, may find their natural alignment to be uncomfortable, use of support props like a neck floatation device are recommended for these instances. This relaxation and sensory reduction allow the body to start to restore and balance itself while also allowing the brain to fall into Theta waves, which are often seen in people with an extensive meditation practice and are known for producing a euphoric or “light” feeling.
9 key Float Benefits
- Performance Optimization
- Stress (Cortisol) Reduction
- Anti-Depression
- Chronic and Acute Pain Relief
- Neck and Back Pain Relief
- Anti-Anxiety
- Detoxifies the Body
- Fortifies the Immune System
- Lowers Fatigue
In a sensory reduction float pod, the water is very buoyant due to the concentration of Epsom salt in the water–creating an environment like the Dead Sea–allowing you to float effortlessly. The water temperature is set near your body temperature, which is skin receptor neutral allowing your brain to lose track of where the body ends, and the water begins providing a state of ultimate relaxation and reduction in tactile stimulation! There are the options of leaving the lid open or lights on but reducing the sensory stimulation to your brain and body facilitates restorative processes and aids in your body maintaining homeostasis. Brain rest or sensory reduction is what helps to allow the brain to start to repair and heal itself.

What to expect?
How to float

Eat Lightly
Eat a small meal or snack and drink a glass of water, but not too much so you won’t feel the urge to use the bathroom.

Room Intro
The Luminary will show you the room and float pod, how things work, what to do, identify any props you may need and answer any questions you may have before you begin floating.

Shower
Before entering the pod you will have to shower (which is provided) to remove all oils, perfumes, lotions etc from your body as they will damage the floatation pod. You will ONLY use shampoo and body soap before you float as conditioners often have oils and moisturizers that can damage the pod. Avoid shaving before you float to avoid possible minor pain resulting from the salt on small abrasions. If you do have any minor abrasions or scrapes, cover them with the provided A&D ointment to create a skin barrier.

What To Wear?
In the completely private pod room, you will remove all your clothing. Being in your natural state allows for the most benefit. Silicone waterproof or soundproof ear plugs are provided. If you do need to leave the room, there is a robe provided.

Guided Float
There is a brief intro that comes through the speakers in the pod which signals you float time is starting, followed by frequency infused music to help set a meditative or relaxed state for your brain. You can choose to turn the music and lights on or off during your float. The speaker will also turn on to signal the end of your float time, at which point you will exit the pod to shower and rinse all that salt off!

Float
During the float, your body may occasionally bump into the side of the pod. This is ok, just reach your hand out to the sidewall of the pod to steady yourself. There is a water bottle and washcloth on a hook inside the pod you can use if you get salt in your eyes/face.

Ease Out
As your session ends, music will fade in easing you out of the float. Once the session ends, you slowly exit the pod and take care when moving from a laying to standing position.

Post Float Shower
You will be dripping in salt-remember you just floated in almost 1000 lbs! You will need to immediately shower to rinse all the salt off, including rinsing your ears and ensuring they are dry. A small ear wash bottle is provided in the shower. Once dressed, head to the Get Ready bar to finish getting ready and dry your hair if needed.

Enjoy Your Day
Once finished, you can head back out into the world while you bask in your post-float glow all day!
